I am Carousel Cat—a towering tribute to both the magic of carousel rides and the majesty of big cats!
I stand an impressive 10 feet tall at the top of my carousel pole and am a vibrant fiberglass puma who is a bold reimagining of Rosetta’s original bronze sculpture. With striking oranges, pinks, and blues, intricate geometric patterns, and over 1,000 hand-placed vintage Austrian crystals, I definitely will dazzle you from every angle (ESPECIALLY when the sun hits me!). My engraved carousel pole and Navajo-inspired ‘saddle blanket’ add even more layers of artistry and storytelling. And those glass taxidermy Mountain Lion eyes and porcupine-quill whiskers? They bring a lifelike intensity to my lovely feline beauty!
I was created as part of the Pumas on Parade project and helped support the San Juan Mountains Association and its mission for outdoor education. Looking back, as I’m wont to do, I’m still in awe of my vibrant energy and AmyV’s craftsmanship that went into my larger-than-life self - I hope you enjoy me and AmyV’s interpretation of Rosetta’s original work!
